Overview Port Health Office of Dumai as vector controller

Port Health Office (PHO Dumai) attempts to keep the incidence of vector born disease is low in the buffer and the perimeter area of Dumai Port. PHO Dumai continuing work based on data and evidence found in a sustainable manner to achieve the goal of preventing disease transmission as vectors.

What is a Vectors?

Vectors are insects and other arthropods that can play a role in disease transmission. Five main vector in Dumai port and the disease are:

1.Mosquitoes can transmit dengue fever and dengue, chikungunya, malaria, Japanese encephalitis and filariasis.
2.Fleas can transmit disease Pes.
3.Rodent Infectious Rodent Rat Bite Fever, leptospirosis and murine typhus.
4.Cockroaches can transmit cholera and penyakir due to food.
5.Flies can transmit the disease cholera, typhoid and paratyphoid, salmonellosis, dysentery.

PHO Dumai observed population activity vectors and vector cases of illness due to an ongoing basis. This gives a good understanding of the PHO more about the pattern of disease transmission and places that allow into place so that the development of vector control measures is easier to do.

PHO Dumai perform vector control not only the buffer area and the perimeter but also perform checks on conveyances and goods memunginkan be a live vector.
